The Main Street Bedford Project is an effort
to use our past for the benefit of the present and
future generations using a comprehensive four-point Main Street approach:
- ORGANIZATION:
Organization means building consensus and
cooperation between all
groups and individuals that play a part in the
community. Organization creates the foundation
for an effective volunteer-driven program.
- BUSINESS IMPROVEMENT: Business
Improvement means working to strengthen the
existing economic base of the community,
diversifying retail mix, and finding new uses
for vacant or under-utilized buildings.
- PROMOTION: Promotion involves
marketing Bedford's unique characteristics to
shoppers, investors, new businesses, tourists,
and others. This marketing includes retail,
image and other special events.
- DESIGN:
Design contributes to improving Bedford's
image by enhancing its physical appearance to
convey a positive image of what the community
has to offer.
