The
EWDI program helps qualified individuals with disabilities establish,
acquire, maintain or expand a small business by providing technical and
financial assistance. To be eligible for the program, applicants must be
active clients of the Iowa Department of Education Division of
Vocational Rehabilitation Services or the Iowa Department for the Blind.
Technical Assistance
grants of up to $10,000 may be used to pay for any specific
business-related consulting service such as developing a feasibility
study or business plan, or accounting and legal services.
Financial Assistance
grants of up to $10,000 may be used to purchase equipment, supplies,
rent or other start-up, expansion or acquisition costs identified in an
approved business plan. Total financial assistance provided to an
individual may not exceed 50 percent (maximum of $10,000) of the
financial package. EWD financial assistance must be fully matched by
funding from other sources.
